SMALL BATHROOM DESIGN – WINNER

KBDi Design Awards 2015 – Small Bathroom Design (SA) – Winner!
Designer: Jordan Smith for Brilliant SA

It was vital that the new design allowed for two users at any one time so considerations had to be given to traffic flow. The WC wall was removed and the bathroom entrance from the passage way was made obsolete to open up the space. All fittings and fixtures were relocated to simplify the layout and make maximum use of the small space.

The toilet was relocated to be out of view from the doorway. Two narrow mirrors run from the floor to the ceiling, accentuating the high ceilings, creating more depth to the room and giving clear definition to the large double vanity ‘his’ and ‘hers’ zones. Soft-close cabinet fronts with stylish finger-pull grip, creates a flawless finish with ample storage space for two. Two double GPO’s were added internally to keep the vanity area clear. Circular pressed steel basins with slimline edges sit proudly above the smooth, solid surface top. These were paired with tapware with pure and simple lines to further enhance this sleek, sophisticated look.

Large format tiles were laid horizontally to visually expand the the space with the added benefit of being easier to clean. The stark contrast of the black floor and western shower wall creates a feature that draws the eye without overpowering other elements of the room. The floor to ceiling frameless shower screen creates a sleek and uninterrupted view. The inclusion of a brushed stainless-steel grate introduces texture and offers a sleek modern look. I completed this by adding an oversized ceiling mounted shower head.

The result is a space that combines luxury with functionality in perfect proportions.
