CITY LIVING HOME RENOVATION

Located in Adelaide city’s vibrant east end, this classic 90’s apartment wasn’t meeting our clients needs. Our retired clients, downsized and moved from Sydney, wanting to enjoy all that city living has to offer. Our clients sought a clean, stylish and functional renovation that is easy to live in and maintain, for many years to come. Brilliant SA undertook a full home renovation, completely converting the ensuite, walk in robe, main bathroom, laundry, kitchen, lounge room and flooring throughout.

KITCHEN

Our clients sought a soft contemporary kitchen that would be easy to use and care for. The existing kitchen was U shaped, which made corner cupboards difficult and awkward to access. Our designer immediately knew the solution was to change the layout to a galley kitchen, integrating plenty of drawers throughout to improve accessibility. A tall pantry is located left of the fridge, internal drawers ensure every shelf is easy to access.

Both benchtop and splashback were selected in Caesarstone Alpine Mist to create a soft, seamless and easy to clean workspace. To add some character a modern shaker was chosen, doors are Polytec’s ‘Oberon’ profile in custom 2 Pack Dulux Lexicon Quarter. Black tapware, sink and appliances create a perfect modern contrast. Newly installed LED ceiling and strip lighting gives the previously gloomy internal kitchen an abundance of functional and task lighting.

LOUNGE & ROBES

The apartment was finished off with a custom, 2 Pack painted display unit to house their personal items, books and impressive wine collection. A custom robe of the same style was installed in the clients spare bedroom for continuity. Blackbutt engineered timber flooring adds a warm aesthetic to a beautiful home, that our clients will enjoy for years to come.

ENSUITE

Being a multi-storey apartment, there were limitations to relocating waste points. While the existing layout couldn’t be reconfigured, the ensuite has been completely renovated and jam packed with wow factor. Our designer configured custom joinery which enabled additional storage, ensuring no impact to the toilet. To ensure consistency and continuity within the apartment the same stone and joinery was used throughout. Custom vanity drawers in Polytec’s ‘Oberon’ shaker profile in custom 2 Pack Dulux Lexicon Quarter create functional storage space. While the benchtop and splashback in Caesarstone Alpine Mist creates a seamless grout-free transition, making cleaning a breeze.

Continuing the warm aesthetic from the main bathroom and laundry, the floor and walls are Italia Ceramics Icone Blanco 300 x 600 glazed porcelain tiles. A stunning herringbone feature wall adds texture and reflects beautifully in the recessed mirror cabinets. The client’s exquisite choice of Gessi Rettangolo tapware, in Black Metal, adds a real sense of designer luxury to this space. The entire ensuite has underfloor heating to keep our clients comfortable underfoot all year round.

WALK IN ROBE

The galley walk-in robe was customised specifically for the use of a ‘his’ and ‘hers’ wardrobe. Joinery in Polytec’s Soft Walnut and Lo & Co Curve Pull handles in Brushed Nickel pair perfectly with the warmer tone of the ensuite while contrasting against the plush charcoal carpet. Newly installed LED ceiling and kicker strip lighting gives the previously dark internal walk in robe an abundance of functional and mood lighting while drawing the eye through to the ensuite. Expertly designed internals have been custom designed to keep our clients clothes, shoes and suitcases neatly hidden away. A structural column has been utilized as the perfect spot for a glue on mirror within the robes. The result is a stunning, luxurious space that our clients love and indulge in everyday.

MAIN BATHROOM

The existing bathroom had a built-in bath that was unwanted and a closed in shower which was awkward to use for our clients. Our clients love the location and intend to stay there forever. In order to future proof this space we removed the bath which enabled us to give our clients a spacious walk-in shower, with plenty of room to access.

Being a multi-storey apartment, there were construction limitations to relocating waste points. The toilet could not be relocated, so our designer configured custom joinery which enabled additional storage, ensuring no impact to the toilet.

Keeping within the style of the other renovations, vanity drawers are Polytec’s ‘Oberon’ shaker profile in custom 2 Pack Dulux Lexicon Quarter. The benchtop is Caesarstone Alpine Mist to create a soft, seamless and easy to clean space. Continuing the warm aesthetic, Italia Ceramics Icone Blanco 300 x 600 glazed porcelain tiles run from floor to feature wall behind the shower. To add a little luxury, the entire bathroom has underfloor heating to keep our clients comfortable all year round.

LAUNDRY

The existing laundry configuration had a freestanding trough, little storage and was due for a refresh. Our clients chose the same joinery and stone benchtops throughout to ensure consistency and continuity within the apartment.

Keeping within the style of the other renovations, custom laundry cabinetry and tall cupboards are Polytec’s ‘Oberon’ shaker profile in custom 2 Pack Dulux Lexicon Quarter. The benchtop and splashback is Caesarstone Alpine Mist to create a soft, seamless and easy to clean space. Continuing the warm aesthetic from the main bathroom, the laundry floor is Italia Ceramics Icone Blanco 300 x 600 glazed porcelain tiles. A clothes rail was incorporated into the laundry design at our clients request. As a safe spacing measure, our clients upgraded from a washer and separate overhead dryer to a Bosch Washer/Dyer combo. A double door tall cupboard has been divided into both a shelving unit and a broom cupboard with an electrical outlet inside for our clients stick vac. The result is a spacious, clean and functional laundry that fits perfectly within our client’s lifestyle!
