The owner’s goal for this project was to create a functional, retreat like bathroom for their busy family, whilst complementing the remainder of the home. The previous 3-way bathroom was not to the clients taste and the excessive use of internal walls left little room to move and an impractical shower alcove. Natural light from the north facing aspect was lost due to these restricting walls. Privacy within the bathroom was not an issue for the clients so they were happy to open up the space and remove all existing internal walls. New LED downlights were added to enhance the lighting including one placed over the mirror for task lighting. Pendant lights were added for ambiance lighting.

Luxurious 600 x 600 natural stone look tiles were proposed to create the retreat style feel and the perfect backdrop for the large organic, Victoria + Albert Barcelona freestanding bath. The bath is made from Quarrycast which is warm to touch and has high insulation properties for the ultimate bathing experience. A niche was added above the bath to add both a practical element (store bath products etc.) and create another design feature. Some warmth was needed to break up the tiles as well. To achieve this, the designer surrounded the niche with teak timber and lined the back of the niche with a mirror to add the appearance of more depth and highlight the beautiful teak.

The client also requested ample storage in the bathroom to encourage their children to keep the bathroom tidy. To keep the vanity top clutter free, the designer added a large vanity and recessed mirror cabinets with internal GPO’s either side, giving each child their own space.

The result is a both a luxurious haven and functional room that will serve the clients for years to come.
