A challenging and well considered Kitchen to suit the modern flow of our clients and their love of cooking together.
The key to the success in this kitchen renovation was clever solutions to overcome two main challenges with the space. A split-level floor plan made the planning process interesting. Careful consideration was necessary to ensure the difference in flow levels wouldn’t impact usability. Additionally, the previous kitchen was enclosed and dark so it was vital to introduce more natural light.

To meet these challenges head on, the designer proposed removing a wall and extending the split level floor into the adjacent area.  Due to the removed wall being structural, a large support beam was installed to manage the load. An enlarged doorway between the kitchen and dining room was also introduced to manage traffic flow.

To create flow and flair, the designer has given the kitchen a large, uninterrupted work surface with an impressive curved bar. Manufactured in stunning granite, the benchtop in Millenium Cream is the central feature of the kitchen. The metallic glass splashback reflects the surrounding views and invites a sense of nature into the home. To harmonise and compliment the surrounding sand and cliffs a natural colour palette was selected. Finally, the application of two different cabinet colours, Dulux “Barnfloor” and “Parchment”, create visual balance between the upper and lower cupboards.  While large format polished porcelain floor tiles reflect the same sandy tones.

Opening this area up and adjoining spaces allowed the owners to enjoy the stunning ocean views through the dining room. As a result, the owners desire for a light and bright space which would enhance their love of entertaining has been achieved. Most noteworthy is that the large format kitchen now allows the owners to comfortably cook and prepare meals together while in the one space.
