Hampton Style Laundry Renovation

Nestled in the leafy suburb of Toorak Gardens, a 1920s gentleman’s bungalow is the home to a family of five and two dogs. The house exudes charm but had a laundry space that fell short in fucntionality. After living in the house for six years, the family decided it was time for a change.

The laundry room was a big but underwhelming area, burdened by outdated 1990s green floor tiles and insufficient storage. Organisation was a challenge, and the family longed for a clutter-free space that complemented their home’s classic style.

Our clients had clear goals, they wanted a laundry that was bright, functional, easy to maintain and equipped for a busy household. They also envisioned a Hamptons look that harmonised with their kitchen and the overall aesthetic of their gentleman’s bungalow. While they preferred a white laundry, they were very specific about avoiding stark bright white but choosing instead something that felt warm and welcoming.

A well-thought-out solution was necessary. We also utilised the 3.4-metre ceilings to their fullest potential. The cabinet height was strategically selected to fit a concealed step ladder that when in use, allows easy access to the top storage space. Our team designed a space full of storage solutions that seamlessly blend into the Hamptons-inspired style.

Hampton style Transformation

We reimagined the laundry as a showcase of Hampton style and practicality. We built full-height custom cabinetry which ensures no space is wasted. Including three concealed Hafele laundry baskets suitable for this large family and a corner unit to keep everything organised and within easy reach. In addition to this, a special cabinet for their furry companion’s heavy bag of food bag was selected.

A wall-to-wall hanging rail provides ample room for shirts and suits, while a hidden Robinhood ironing board adds convenience without compromising on style. To modernise the appliances with water and power-efficient solutions we included Bosch freestanding washing and drying machines. As well as an integrated fridge and a freezer which the family now uses to store beverages for entertaining.

The design emphasises elegance and timelessness. We crafted 2-packed cabinetry with shaker profiles in satin white to create a classic Hampton look. Warm tones throughout the space ensure a bright, inviting environment including the benchtop in Frosty Carrina, paired with Riviera white floor tiles. For added sophistication, we used a black hanging rail and black tapware, knobs and handles.

We replicated the traditional style of cornices and architraves, finishing with a fresh coat of paint on windows and doors, keeping a cohesive look and honouring the age and style of the home.

The transformation delivered a space that is both functional and stunning. For this Toorak Gardens family, their refreshed laundry is more than an upgrade—it’s a harmonious extension of their classic 1920s bungalow. We provided ample storage, creating a dedicated place for every item, and used high-quality finishes to ensure durability and style. LED strip lighting above the benchtop enhances task lighting for folding and sorting while offering a calming glow when used alone.

The family loves the thoughtful touches, such as the concealed Blum box drawer for pet food and the integrated fridge for drinks. These practical yet elegant details make everyday tasks simpler and more enjoyable. Our clients are so delighted with their new laundry that they are now considering renovating their family bathroom.
