Klemzig Retro Master Suite Renovation

This Klemzig home was once again transformed for our returning clients, following the success of their earlier retro kitchen renovation. Much of their 1980s solid brick home, was still in original condition, therefore this next stage was long awaited by the couple. The focus shifted to the master suite, creating a cohesive and personalised retreat that reflects their lifestyle.

Our clients wanted a master bedroom and ensuite that felt comfortable, functional, and full of personality, while still maintaining a calm and balanced atmosphere. The original bathroom was dated and no longer suited their needs. Improving storage was also essential, since the bedroom previously had no storage. Above all, they wanted a high-quality result that would last, as this is their forever home.

Master suite Renovation

Our Interior Designer tackled this by making the most of the available space while improving functionality. In the bedroom, designed built-in wardrobes, creating dedicated his and hers zones that feel organised and intentional. These wardrobes include integrated laundry hampers and a pull-out tie rack, making daily routines easier while keeping everything neatly concealed.

In addition, we introduced generous inbuilt dresser cabinetry beneath the television and across from the bed, providing extra storage and display space without overwhelming the room. Within the ensuite, the layout remained unchanged, however each element was thoughtfully refined. The floating vanity enhances the sense of space, while the mirror cabinets with internal power points keep everyday items neatly stored and easily accessible. The shower, now includes a practical ledge for storage and an Axus dual shower system that enhances comfort and usability.

Master suite with Retro Charm

This design embraces a retro style with a contemporary edge, blending nostalgic bold colour with a refined finish. Gloss Kyoto pink tiles create a vibrant feature across the walls, adding texture and warmth, while dark anthracite terrazzo tiles ground the space and provide contrast. The warm timber floating vanity in Florentine Walnut paired with the matte olive basin creates a distinctive focal point. Brushed brass tapware adds further warmth and provides cohesion across the ensuite.

In the bedroom, the wardrobes are finished in a eucalyptus green tone, complemented by walnut Kethy handles that echo the ensuite vanity. Similarly, dresser cabinetry in warm neutral tones paired with a Florentine Walnut benchtop reinforces consistency across the suite. Lighting plays an important role in the overall feel, with wall sconces positioned beside the bed to create the perfect reading environment, while circular wall lights with frosted opal glass in the ensuite emit a soft and warm glow. In addition, a motion sensor LED light beneath the vanity improves night-time safety and comfort, while adding a subtle ambient glow.

Comfort and Everyday Living

The transformation improved both comfort and functionality throughout the master suite. New doors, functional wardrobes, fresh paint and better lighting created a softer bedroom environment. In the bathroom, Devi underfloor heating, heated towel rails, and a Ventair ceiling exhaust improved daily comfort and ventilation.

As a result, the space now feels organised, welcoming, and easy to live in. The clients are extremely happy with the results and now enjoy a space that truly reflects their style.
